John is a Professor at City University’s Cass Business School in London where he is the Director of its Masters Programme in NGO Management. He is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Bath. He also has extensive international experience as a consultant and a trainer having worked in over fifty different countries. He has undertaken consultancies for a range of international NGOs, donors and UN agencies, in such areas as strategy and organisational development, governance and leadership, as well as undertaking evaluations and programmatic reviews.
He was one of the founders of INTRAC for whom he continues to work as an Associate. He has published extensively, and his research has been focused on the leadership and management of NGOs, the strategic challenges they face and the consequences for their leadership, governance and organisation, and issues related to the long-term sustainability of NGOs.
John is also a member of Development in Practice’s Editorial Advisory Group.
