This volume provides an insightful overview both of the concept of civil society and its operationalisation. It is an edited collection of papers, discussions, and comment arising out of INTRAC’s 10th Anniversary Conference held in December 2001. The meeting included representatives from official donor organisations, foundations, NGOs (Northern, Southern and Eastern), trade unions, research groups and civil society umbrella groups, as well as consultants and academics.
