Peter has recently stepped down as the Executive Director of the Ethical Trading Initiative after 14 years leading that organisation which focuses on Business and Human rights. He has spent some twenty plus years working to ensure responsible business and altogether has some 35 years working in the development context, from emergency relief to a variety of leading roles in development NGOs.
Working across many different geographies Peter has worked with many local NGOs and civil society institutions, as well as governments and international agencies and Trade Unions to support locally driven change processes.
Now working as an independent consultant, Peter originally graduated as an Industrial Engineer and after an early career in Industry joined the UK Voluntary Service Overseas serving as a small business advisor in Malawi.
