Are you interested in strengthening the monitoring and evaluation (M & E) processes and practices within your organisation so that high quality information is collected and shared to enable learning and accountability? INTRAC’s new online course on Monitoring and Evaluation Systems aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to develop an effective M&E system for your project, programme or organisation.
The course will set out the key components of an M&E system, discuss the different influences on a M&E system and how to manage these, and the steps to take to diagnose and rectify problems with an M&E system. It will also cover how to make decisions on what information to collect, how to summarise and aggregate that information, and how M&E systems differ for projects, complex programmes and organisations.
This course is intended for those that already have some experience of monitoring and evaluation. It has been designed to build on and enhance participant’s skills and understanding of M&E and work through some of the practical challenges commonly faced in designing and managing complex M&E systems.
Course Structure: The Monitoring and Evaluation Systems Advanced Online Course, delivered over the course of 4 weeks, will give you access to:
- INTRAC e-learning platform, with self-paced activities to be completed before/after live sessions, and further resources such as handouts and recordings;
- Four weekly interactive live sessions facilitated by our experienced trainers, which will include small group discussions and live exercises;
- Opportunities to interact with other participants on the programme through the e-learning platform, live sessions and virtual group meetings outside of the live sessions;
- One 50-minute individual mentoring session with one of the trainers.
On average, we estimate participants should set aside about 4-6 hours per week for this course.
Feedback from our March 2022 participants:
“The short, concentrated overview of advanced M&E topics put together by the trainers (curriculum and readings were superb – managed to be both generally useful to a wide range of experiences, but still advanced) and the peer learning and discussion (great to hear and learn from people all over the world). I’d recommend it to others.”

“I really valued how effectively the course was facilitated online – it was great to have such a mixture of tools, group work, reading, triads, – it worked really well as a cohesive whole.”
George Grayson, UK
